I had to write after seeing a review of one-star for this clinic. I will agree that Woodford is a busy clinic and yes, you do sometimes wait to see a vet. There is a reason for that. They are the best vet clinic in the entire area!!! My dog recently had orthopedic surgery in Louisville and subsequently had complications. If it were not for Dr. Jolly and his keen observations of my dog's symptoms, my dog would've died. Instead, Dr. Jolly took immediate action and provided the best care. My dog was at the clinic for almost a week. During that time, when I would visit him, I was amazed at how clean everything was kept, how much love and attention my dog got while staying there. And, like another reviewer stated, Dr. Jolly is as genuinely concerned for my pet's well-being as I am (plus he gets on the exam room floor with him and loves all over him which is just awesome in my book). My dog is alive, well and thriving because of Dr. Jolly and his staff.\r \r As far as the cost of care, I haven't found that Woodford's pricing is out of line with what other clinics charge. As a matter of fact, I was very nervous when I went to finally pick-up my dog after his week-long stay. I was sure I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay the bill. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the bill was. And each and every charge was listed so I knew what I was paying for. However, if cost is the only thing you care about when picking your vet, perhaps Woodford isn't for you. There are lots cheap clinics that provide ""you get what you pay for"" service. I want top-notch care for my pooch at a reasonable price and I get it at Woodford.\r \r Every clinic makes mistakes, every clinic has a few clients that have a bad experience, but it is obvious by the repeat business that Woodford get (and the long distances people drive to get there) that this place is special. Six years ago my friend decided to breed her mastiff male to another mastiff female. Lilly had 10 beautiful, healthy puppies. Unfortunately Lilly developed an inflammation in her breasts and was unable to care for her puppies. So....we had to bottle feed 10 puppies on a regular schedule. Lilly was checked a couple days after having the puppies at which time the infection was noticed. We were told to keep an eye on her (she was prescribed antibiotics) and that the site should abscess on it's own but if it didn't within a few days, she would have to have it incised to drain. To make a long story short, Lilly' s breast did abscess. I called my friend to let her know because she worked nights and I was caring for Lilly and the puppies. My friend gave me Dr Jolly's home phone number and told me to call him to see what he recommended. I called him about 6:30 or 7:00pm. Although, he was home and not working, he was the most pleasant, helpful person I have ever talked to. He did not care that I called him that late in the evening to ask him questions when he wasn't at work. HE was just as concerned about Lilly's well being as we were. Needless to say I take my mastiff to him and wouldn't trust him to any other vet around. The staff are always friendly. I have even called MaryAnn who works at the office because she does obedience training and had her come to my house to show me things I can do with my dog to help with him being so protective of me. She showed me alot of things that help. As fars as costs......there is NOTHING I won't do for my Rusdeez. When you love a dog as much as I love mine costs are NOT an option; although, I feel that the prices I have paid have been very fair. So this all being said....Woodford Vet Clinic is a great facility and very reasonable. I lived in Georgetown and drove to Woodford because of the great care we receive there. I took my animals to this clinic for approximately five years before I decided I wanted them to live long lives. The clinic is ALWAYS a zoo, and I do not mean that in a good way. The desk help and the vet techs are harried and obviously have too much to do to do it well. Once I sat in an exam room for 45 minutes before I flagged someone down--they'd forgotten we were in there. My dogs have developed cysts at vaccination injection sites, my cat almost died after being kenneled there for a weekend. And of course the clinic never takes responsibility. And for this treatment you are charged outrageous fees. Recently I boarded two dogs at their kennel (out of desperation) for five nights. The charge was $450 because they had to have three vaccinations. They charged for two office visits, two wellness exams, and of course the vaccines themselves, but the extra charges, such as the wellness exams and the vaccinations other than kennel cough, are not disclosed beforehand.
