Pay close attention to what you are signing on the initial check in sheet !!! Otherwise you will pay for thing you don't authorize for !! I brought my laptop to figure out why...

Expensive repair - prices have gone up and up. Owner will not work with you. I had the computer repaired and have been on the phone with techs for 2 days trying to get their repairs to work. They installed Bitdefender Total Security, but it did not work.\r While on the phone with a tech from Computer Hospital, I allowed him to take over my computer. He went to the website Bitdefender to get this software to work and there was a special of 2 years for the price of 1. I asked for my money to be returned to me since this was on special. I wouldn't be writing this review if they had in anyway been helpful. I honestly have never dealt with a company this cold and hardheaded. I have found through my brother in law a business in north Houston that just charges 25.00 to look and repair most problems. There is no reason to pay huge costs to this companies. Check around !!\r JUST IN IT FOR THE MONEY !!! more

So when i took my computer in for the 1st time they had a pretty nice staff when it came to helping me with my problem when i had a broken computer screen problem. The price tag was a bit expensive ($215) which eventually i found i could have repaired it for cheaper at another computer shop. But where the problem really lied is after i got my computer back, my computer stopped working. I took it back to the shop and was told that my motherboard was no good anymore. Mindful that it was working just fine before i sent it to the shop, i mean i could hook it up to an external display and it works fine. They eventually told me that i had to buy another computer when i just got this one less than 2 months ago.. if it wasn't for my warranty i would have had to buy another computer because they didn't want to take responsibility for messing up my laptop when it was just fine when i sent it to them. I suggest for all people who want to try out this shop, don't because they are just looking for a lot of money out of you and not willing to do the work for it. They look the part, but not willing to do the part. more

After finding myself in the Devil's Triangle of Technology problems in Houston, with computers crashing and phones all but blowing up, I was pleasantly surprised by the Computer Hospital. In lieu of the traditional slovenly, bed-head geeks, I was greeted by polite young men, with professional demeanor. They didn't assume I knew what they knew, but also didn't feel the need to dumb down when explaining my computer's condition. I was impressed that they were able to recover my data, and that they fixed the problem without charging me what I was prepared to pay. They also told me to hold services for another one that I could have wasted a lot of money on...lol! Great group of guys...I highly recommend them! more

Data Recovery Experts!!! 2/1/2012

The hard drive on my MacBook crashed and in the process erased all of my data. The Apple store told me that Apple would cover the replacement drive, but could not be held responsible for the any data that was lost (nor the recovery of said data, if possible). They told me that my data would have to be recovered by a third party, and the process could cost between $200 and $2,000. Utterly disappointed, I tried the Computer Hospital, who I had previously used to fix email issues I was having. I was immediately put at ease by the friendly guys at the counter. They seemed fairly confident that the data could be recovered. This was a welcome relief to me. Happy ending: My data was completely restored, and they even ordered the new hard drive and installed it for me. I would definitely recommend these guys! more

Excellent Data Recovery! Definitely use them again! 1/26/2012

I recently made the switch to a Mac, and thought I was the coolest until I accidentally wiped my entire hard drive. Very, very stupid! I had heard about the Computer Hospital through a friend of mine so I called them up and was delighted when they said to just bring it right in to their shop. Within minutes of arriving, they were working on it. Within 24 hours, they had recovered everything. They were nice, they were fast, and they knew what they were doing. That was my first experience with a computer repair shop, but it's really great to know that there are smart guys out there to help me out when I screw things up. I'm so happy to have ALL of my data back! Thanks just doesn't seem enough! more

Beware of their definition of ""recovered"" data 12/12/2011

After reading how the computer hospital only charges you if you get your data back (as per their website) I thought it was a great option. The first sign I missed was when their initial estimate was doubled. They said my data was especially difficult to recover and I believed them, now I'm thinking they might have been testing how badly I want it. Anyway, I agreed to pay the amount (which was $400 which is a lot by my standards). I went to pick up my data it wasn't there, they took another week, called me to pick up it up, I went again, no luck. Long stroy short, it took about 4 visits before they were able to locate my data and give it to me, but that was not the end of my troubles. They tested one file for me, which worked (I have about 1TB of data, so of course I could not test every file there, so I trusted their ""random sample""). I went home and tried to actually use the data and it turns out that only about 25% of my data was there, the rest of the files were all ""corrupt"" and would not open. When I called them to complain that I would never have paid that much money if I knew that they only recovered 25% or that how much of the ""recovered"" data actually works was a risk I had to take myself, again, I would have not paid the money, I was told that their std for recovery is when the file ""shows an icon, ie is recognized by the program it was created in"" the fact that 75% of the files were empty or corrupt was not their problem and that I should have ""tested"" the 1TB of data before leaving if I had a concern. Shame on them - as much of a scam as any other data recovery service! more

Professional service and great rates 7/31/2011

was suffering a very confusing BSOD. Also issues with the hard drive. I was happy with their service cause the 1st time I brought it in and they didn't charge me when they couldn't reproduce the issue. I later had the issue and brought it in and they saw it. So it seemed to be a bad hard drive. Price was fair and came with a 1 year warranty. I easily could of solved it myself by putting in the drive but I had a feeling the issue was more than the drive. Well that drive failed and they did replace it as promised. A manufacturer defect and I am well aware that it happens. I then got the BSOD after the 3rd drive again and it was the same error code. They tried multiple things and in my opinion the proper order and didn't charge me for the time they put into it. Now today ive been enjoying my computer for the whole day with no issues. thanks to Corey and the staff at the computer hospital. I realized in the beginning this wouldn't be an easy BSOD to fix from searching it. But they did fix it and awesome job more

Fast Virus Fix 3/22/2011

I was getting ready to take an online test when all of a sudden my computers telling me i got a buch of virus and asking for 80.00. I called my friends at the computer hospital on sunday no less and they told me it was a rogue antivirus or something. said they could fix it and get back to same day. Sure enough it was done by 2.30 - great job. more

Great Job / Fast / Reasonable 3/21/2011

My laptop was rebooting after a short time of being on. I called around for laptop repair and found it is much more difficult to get laptops fixed than desktops. This company gave me a complimentary diagnostic, estimated the repair and fixed it for less than quoted. more

Very good experience, excellent prices: highly recommend 2/2/2011

I had pc work previously done by by Geek Squad. The work was similar in scope, and they did a very good job, but they cost about 25% more. They have cars and advertising to pay for. By comparison, The Computer Hospital price was exactly what they estimated, staff were always knowledgeable, they insisted I try the computer out before leaving and the followup call was very nice. The said if I had any problems related to the work, that I could call back for free, and they would attempt to correct it by remotely logging. My wife had a hardware repair there as well, and was very satisfied with the work. We both would use them again and highly recommend them. Scott and Terry more

These guys did a great job!!! 12/20/2010

I had a virus on my computer, and my buddy who claims to be a computer guru couldn't get it off for me. I took it to them, and they got it off really quickly and I didn't even lose my pictures! I'm an idiot when it comes to computers, but the guy who helped me out was really friendly and explained everything to me in a way that I could (almost) understand. I hope I never have another problem, but if I do, I know where to go Tony more

Ok, so my relatively new Dell laptop got infected overnight with this rather sneaky spyware called Antivirus.Action. Before going to the Computer Hospital in Travis, I read several reviews and everybody seemed to rave about this place. When I arrived there I explained my problem and they said -sure, no problem- totally fixable. All that was needed -according to the technitian- was a ""cleanup"" which would cost me $145.00 dollars. I agreed to their fee and left the place happy. I was in for a surprise, as on the day the computer was supposed to be ready I received a call from one of the techniticans saying that they couldn?t possibly fix my computer unless I agreed to replace the hard drive -which conveniently for them- changed my bill from $145 to almost $300. I said I was not interested in changing the hard drive and that I was just going to contact Dell directly. They were very eager to convince me repeatedly that Dell was not going to do much for me - which I thought was suspicious. When I declined their offer they said I was going to have to pay $45 anyway for all the backup they had done. When I went to pick up my computer and the backup, they told me that such backup is stored in their system only for ""insurance"" purpuses and that if I wanted a copy of all my data I would have to pay an extra $35 dollars. That happened earlier today and to not make this story longer...I am writing this review from my perfectly well functioning laptop -which I fixed my self by downloading a FREE anti-spyware program that got rid of the bug in seconds. Please go somewhere else. EDIT: Upon seeing this review, the owner of this establishment contacted me, explained his position, and gave me my money back. more

These guys are absolutely brilliant ! I thought I blew my power supply of my PC - they checked the PC in a professional manner and found out that it works !! And they refused to charge me anything for it either ! Now you ask why is this so special - I first took the PC to Best Buy Geek Squad and left it with them for a week only to be told it doesn't work and I need a new PC.AND it cost me $ 150 for the ""repair"" !!!!! Trust me,trust these guys !!! There aren't too many honest and knowledgable people around these days ..... more

A techy miracle! 2/22/2009

When my great nephew needed a computer, I thought of my retired 2001 Sony Vaio laptop. It had issues, but if it could be restored for a reasonable fee, great! I got lucky. I found Computer Hospital in the yellow pages. They sent a polite, well-groomed, and punctual young man to pick up my laptop. The supervisor, Craig, phoned me a little later that day with an assessment. Craig clearly presented the options. He was ethical. He said if cleaning the corrupted hard drive and reloading the operational software failed to restore screen graphics, Office, and the cursor, most likley there was a hardware issue. He advised that if that were the case, he would not go further with repairs as the cost of repairs would be a lot. He offered that if cleaning and reloading didn't work, then there'd be no charge. Pros: Open long hours weekdays and Saturdays Cons: Hard to locate the Katy Fwy office more

Always available! 1/3/2009

I?ve been a customer of The Computer Hospital for a little over 5 years now and no matter how many times I call or even when I call, they always have a technician available to assist me either over the phone/remotely or they send someone to me. What a great bunch of people! more

I actually understood! 12/28/2008

I have absolutely no computer knowledge. I called the computer hospital and was so happy that they not only assisted me right then and there, but they also made it easy for me to understand what they were doing. First time that has ever happened! more

Fast Service/Great Price 12/26/2008

When someone does a good job I like to tell them so and when they do a bad job I do the same. I spoke to the guys on the phone and was told the symptoms indicated a possible failing drive. Being the procratinator I am, I didn't have a backup. The first thing the guys did was to pull my drive and get a copy. Sure enough the drive was failing. Fortunately I was able to get my copy onto a new drive and the system was back up and running for the price of the drive and the copy about $150.00. And the same day at that. Pros: Quick Service more

Great Service 12/26/2008

I called with a problem with my laptop and was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't told someone would have to call me back. The technician assisted me over the phone and then I received a call back a couple of days later making sure I had received good customer service. I am definitely a repeat customer and will also recommend them to family and friends. more

horrible attitude. horrible prices. rude and expensive 11/7/2008

i was missing a letter on my laptop so i asked if they could replace it and what the cost would be. the service guy that helped me hollered out to the business owner across the room ""how much?"" and i thought i heard the boss reply ""$15"". i said ok. after a couple of minutes he rung me up for $54 and i said excuse me, i thought he said $15 and the service guy rudely said ""no, it's $50, i heard what he said"". i asked if we could check with the boss when he gets off the phone and the service guy repeated ""i heard what he said"" in a short arrogant tone. i told him to take his letter back. he abruptly popped letter off my keyboard and subsequently tore off another small component of the keypad that was attached before without any apology or words whatsoever. more
