Editorial review from Citysearch 12/5/2013

I wish I could give them ZERO stars. This is the WORST customer service interaction and WORST service I have ever received in my life.\r \r This is a high pressure sales, make you feel extremely guilty, pump up the prices, unfriendly, and dishonest vet.\r \r I have a healthy one year old french bulldog. When I walked through the doors with my dog, they immediately pegged me as someone they could charge unnecessary extras on.\r \r My dog is super energetic and cracked her nail running up stairs. I cleaned it, bandaged her up, and kept an eye on it for a week. The nail didn't fall off and became more inflamed, so I brought her to Central Animal.\r \r I asked them my options and initially they said they could remove it without numbing it, or numb it, or put her under to remove it.\r \r Within a couple minutes, they changed the options and told me they would only feel comfortable removing the toenail under anesthesia. After sitting in their one of the animal rooms with my dog for AN HOUR waiting for the vet to come back and discuss their estimate of $170 with me, they forced me to perform the more intensive procedure. I left the office feeling BULLIED, WORRIED SICK, and like I was at a SLEAZY used car dealer. Of this estimate the actual ""removal of toenail"" was listed as $15. That's right FIFTEEN DOLLARS.\r \r Within 30 minutes I received a HIGH PRESSURE phone call from the vet informing MY DOG WAS ALREADY UNDER ANESTHESIA and she didn't feel comfortable removing the toenail and that she thinks it's CANCER OF THE TOE... it was clearly a broken toenail that I was badgered about for an hour and pressured into putting her under.\r \r She suggested that they biopsy her foot (otherwise COMPLETELY healthy) and send it off to be tested for $115 and and extra $40 to remove the tissue. She said otherwise she didn't feel comfortable removing the toenail or the inflamed tissue FROM THE BROKEN TOENAIL. Suddenly my $170 agreement prior to putting her under was estimated at $325. THREE HUNDRED and TWENTY FIVE dollars.\r \r The last remark the vet made was literally, ""Hurry and make a decision, your dog is under anesthesia."" To which I told her I wanted the procedure we agreed upon performed and nothing else. She kept listing off other options and telling me I needed to biopsy her OR that they should bring her out of anesthesia and give me a couple antibiotics and just watch it for a couple days. I HAD ALREADY DISCUSSED HOW I MONITORED MY DOG FOR A WEEK, SAW THE INFECTION GROWING AND BROUGHT HER IN TO FIX IT. The impression left was that they wanted me to pay for meds and let it get worse and possibly have to bring her back, put her under again and remove her toe and have a MORE extensive surgery. \r \r Finally, she said they would finish the original procedure.\r \r When I arrived at the vet, there was still an extra $40 tacked on my bill over the original agreement.\r \r PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ANYTHING HOLY DON'T VISIT THIS VET. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. more
