Having tired of all the usual places to eat, my fiance and I decided to try Branagan's yesterday for lunch. First thing I noticed was that it was pretty empty. At about 1 to 2 pm on a Sunday, I found that a bit odd. The next thing I noticed was the heat in there. It was a warm day yesterday, and the restaurant almost felt warmer than it did outside. They had several ceiling fans going, but it didn't do much to cool it down. We were greeted right away, and asked to sit anywhere we'd like. Because it was so empty, we pretty much had our choice. I asked for water to drink, and it tasted like tap water, so one or two sips was all I had of that. Because I had been in the mood earlier in the day for pasta, I chose to order the baked macaroni and cheese (probably not the best thing to order on a hot day in an even hotter restaurant). It took about 10 minutes or so for the food to arrive. While my plate was hot to the touch, the mac and cheese was just warm. The cheese sprinkled on top wasn't melted entirely, and it was a little bland. The bread that came with it was pretty good. My fiance ordered a Reuben, and seemed to think it was good. When the waiter brought us our check, my fiance stuck in his card, and set the bill down on the table. And we waited, and waited, and waited for a few more minutes. There were 2 other parties in there besides us, so I knew our waiter couldn't be swamped. I turned around to see where he was, and he was sitting on one of the chairs watching the SPEED channel show they had on. He finally picked up our check when he was taking someone's drinks to the back. All in all, it was okay. The heat was the most overwhelming factor there, but the food and service was just okay to me. They seem to have a fully stocked bar, so in cooler weather, with a bunch of your friends, that part could be fun.
Pros: Good Location. Stocked Bar.
Cons: No A/C (or it was broken). Overpriced menu.
