Love the fried chicken! Great place to order from when you want high end food but don't feel like getting dressed

Four of us went for a late dinner on a Friday night. We asked if it was too late to eat dinner and they insisted NO...but we soon found out that it was. The band in the basement ...

Editorial review from GrubHub 3/3/2014

I've always LOVED Bourbon Blue and have eaten in a number of times. My favorite item on the menu are the alligator quesadillas. However when I received them this time they seemed a lot smaller than before and I was pretty disappointed I spent so much money for such a small amount of food. But they still were delicious. Also, the dressing for the caesar salad was very salty and I could not eat all of it. I don't think I'll order delivery from there again but I'll still come back to dine in because Bourbon Blue is still one of my favorite restaurants! more

What an awful experience 1/4/2010

I've been to this place a couple of times for food, and it has always been greasy and stale-tasting. I let my friends talk me into going for New Years . Since we were having dinner somewhere else, I thought how bad can it get. We were supposed to get in at 10 pm, but had to wait out in the cold which was humiliating! The bouncer was rude when we complained, and told us the girl signing people in was ""slow"". It looked like they sold too many tickets and didn't know how to deal with so many people. Once we got in, it was nothing special. I'm not spending any more of my money here. Pros: Good location Cons: Attitude problem, rude service, bad food more

Its a cool place! 11/9/2009

I have been here 5 times and always have a good time. The hostess, car service guy and bouncers know me. They welcome me back and we make small talk... I feel like norm from cheers when i go in there. Food is excellent to me. I dont understand the negative comments i've read below. Some of the comments, have never happen to me as yet. Pros: Car service, food, atmosphere, service more

Nice place for dinner and drinks 6/14/2008

I liked the idea of this place, so I kind of took some of the negative reviews with a grain of salt and went anyway. We really had a good time. The service was very good, everyone loved their food and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a dinner reservation before 9pm so there wasn't a cover and we didn't have the 18% included gratuity that people complained about. Maybe that stuff happens downstairs where the live band was playing. If you want music, but are more concerned with eating I recommend staying in the upstairs dining room. The music is definitely loud enough. Overall, it was a great night and we would go back. more

Don't waste your money 5/11/2008

Went there early Saturday evening to celebrate a college graduation. Waitress service was spotty. We had three groups seated at the bar tables and had trouble getting served drinks. One group had to wait over an hour for its entrees. Two of our groups were served meals and were finished 1/2 hour before the meals for the third group arrived. This was even after we were assured several times that our food would be right out. The food was mediocre at best. Side vegetables were lukewarm. We would have sent all food back except we didn't want to wait another hour. Save your money and go elsewhere. Pros: Parking service Cons: Waitress service, waiting time, food quality more

horrendous 11/23/2007

This bar was awful. I went there for a high school reunion and the staff was rude and disrespectful. They kicked my friend out for wearing a hat and when some of us tried to reason with the manager explaining that we were at a reunion, they kicked us all out and told us to come back in the morning for our coats and credit cards. Stay away from this place! Pros: nothing Cons: horrible staff more

Can't wait to go back 6/2/2006

I ignored the negative reviews on here and took my parents there for Mother's day. I expected it to be a nice place with average food, from what I had read on here. I thought the food was excellent. Perhaps there is a standard for oysters that I'm not aware but I have been craving them ever my visit. I had the red snapper which was cooked to perfection. My parents, who are particular diners, also loved their meals. We had several special requests due to allergies and the owner (I believe) came over personally to take care of them. They were incredibly nice, the service was quick, and they gave a us a good table. I think you should definitely give it try, especially considering how many overpriced, bad, rude, overcrowded resturants there are in this area. Your experience may be different from mine, but I sincerely hope not. Pros: Food, Service, Space Cons: Parking more

This place is for everyone 12/3/2005

I have read everyones postings about Bourbon Blue and I dont quite undertsand the negativity. I go there frequently with my wife and we do so because of the beautiful atmosphere, great service and awesome food. If you havent been there and you are reading the rest of the postings...STOP READING! This place is fun, electric and has great value. The new chef should get a raise because the specials are always fantastic. Stop reading the crap and give this place it's due.Best in Manayunk and great for Philly! Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere Cons: Loud Late, very crowded more

nauseous 8/10/2005

It is a bunch of people who want to be in NYC but are too scared to live there because they won't have their whole high school crew with them. So, they congregate where they can still order $12 drinks and wear their tight black shirts and gel their hair. It actually makes me nauseous to be there. more

At least go for lunch... 10/2/2004

My fiance and I stopped by Boubon Blue after a late morning stroll around Manayunk. We didn't think it was open for lunch but they were. The decor is very beautiful and rustic; it had the feel of classic New Orleans. We were seated and given the menus. For lunch, the prices are pretty cheap. I ordered a Bourbon Blue Burger (8.5) and my fiance had the regular Burger (7). The food took a while to come out, and they had no other customers besides us. Once the food arrived, I was awed by the large portions. The Cajun steak fries were perfectly meaty and my burger was juicy and delicious. For lunch, two people with 2 entrees, 2 drinks came to 20 dollars excluding tip. If you don't feel like splurging on dinner at Bourbon Blue, the lunch is a steal! Pros: Beautiful Interior, Food, Prices (Lunch Cons: , Slow-er Service, Prices (Dinner) more

New Orleans Experience 3/19/2004

I frequent Bourbon Blue, and have yet to have a disapointing time. I'm not sure how FatChloe missed ""blackened"" on the menu, as they serve blackened catfish, blackened redfish, blackened sirloin and blacken chicken. Bourbon Blue is an excellent place for dinner and cocktails, and the fine food is only surpassed by attentive service. Pros: Food, Crowd, Prices more

Not worth returning to 4/11/2003

Four of us went for a late dinner on a Friday night. We asked if it was too late to eat dinner and they insisted NO...but we soon found out that it was. The band in the basement was overpoweringly loud in contrast with its quiet rustic looking decor. The clientele at the bar were obnoxious, rude and annoying. Someone actually sat on our table while we were eating, while we watched a drunk girl laying on the floor smoking a cigarette. It might have been ok if they had informaed us before hand that the bar crowd would get rowdy in the dining area. Food was very salty and greasy. The drinks were good and the waitress was attentive, but it was not worth the $$. We couldn't wait to leave. Pros: Decor, Drinks Cons: Clientele, Noise more

could not be worse 3/11/2003

The decor is lovely and evocative of New Orleans. The food is the worst imitation cajun/creole food I have ever eaten. New Orleans would be ashamed to have this restaurant in its city. The food was ghastly, with no spices necessary for the dishes. I sampled the menu with my partner and could not find one dish we could finish. Save your money and time. Better to get a pizza delivered. Pros: nice room Cons: horrible food, untrained waitresses, Stouffers food at a p more

Great New Place 2/10/2003

I too, have been to Burbon Blue many times and I have to say the this place deserves nothing less than a perfect rating. The food is great and not over priced, and the service is excellent. Its nice to finally go to a place that has a unique ambiance! The nightlife at Burbon Blue is great too - they have great live music and great bar scene. I would recommend Burbon Blue to anyone! Pros: atmosphere, service, food more

Awesome 2/8/2003

I can't believe the editorial review by Lauren McCutcheon. I have been to Bourbon Blue quite a few times (for dinner & drinks) and it just keeps getting better. Obviously Ms. McCutcheon was hoping for sometthing like the Bayou across the street...where for $10 she can get all you can eat crab legs (If you can even call them that) on Mondays. Bourbon Blue is defintely out of her league. After five long years of no new restaurants in Manayunk, Bourbon Blue arrived with some big shoes to fill, and filled them it has! Pros: Amazing Live Music, Ultra Friendly Staff Cons: Parking more
