Great care, very impolite. 6/2/2018

At first, the hospice home seemed very nice, a desk worker showed us around the building and gave us a sweet welcome. The nurses took great care of my grandfather, giving him pain medication when he was showing discomfort, and even clean-shaving him. While the care was great, I felt very out of place and unwelcome. The doctor's would snap at me, and they seemed to have a problem whenever I'd come out of the room. They imposed strict rules on company, and I felt like I was staying in a prison rather than visiting my loved one. more

Wonderful Caring Help During a Hard Time 2/26/2015

We were care giving my aunt during her last months and wanted to follow her request to die at home. Big Bend Hospice was a huge help to us. They helped keep her supported and happy during her more alert period and were there for support and pain relief as she began to fail. My husband and I could not have helped my aunt during this time without them. Thank you, Big Bend Hospice! more

Nicely decorated, but lacking in politeness 11/8/2006

Most everyone who I know has raved about Hospice (as much as you can rave about something that involves death), saying that it is very peaceful, the nurses are great, etc, etc. However, when my grandmother was moved their this summer, we were less than impressed. The primary nurses who were in charge of care for my grandmother were rude, inconsiderate, not gentle, and just left a very bad impression. When someone close to you is dying you need as much compassion as you can get, but there were only about 2 or 3 nurses who really showed much compassion. We wanted to be as involved as we could in my grandmother's care, because she felt comfortable with us and because we had been caring for her for years, but many of the nurses did not want us in the room when they were giving her a bath, or administering medicine. There were a few great nurses, but they didn't make up for the others. The location is convenient and the center is nicely decorated and furnished. (I do not know anything about the at home hospice care, this review is only of the center itself.) more
