Bangz

I just gave Bangz another shot at doing my hair. It was an amazing experience. Reception was friendly, free bagels and coffee, shampoo with hot towels. I haven't even got to the stylist yet. She listened to what I wanted and exceeded my expectations, totally professional. Management came by to say hello and to ask if I needed anything more. Service, service,service. I went to Bangz for the first time to get a single-process haircolor treatment. My stylist sat me down at her station and took a look at my color, then sternly told me that I had requested the wrong type of treatment for my hair. I asked her what she recommended instead, and as an answer, she sighed and said she would do what she could, and escorted me back to the washing stations. She returned once my hair had been washed, and proceeded to apply color to my head, complaining the entire time that the "stench" of my head while applying treatment was making her "sick." This was such an embarrassing experience for me - other patrons were actually looking over to see what the fuss was. She was acting like such a primadonna!! She left me there for fifteen minutes, took a brief glance at my hair, then directed the person washing hair to rinse me out. The second most demeaning thing about this salon is that they have you blow dry your own hair. Are you serious?! I wasn't expecting a blowout, but come on - I'm going to pay you $60, and you don't even dry my hair?? I was told to go in to a blow-drying station, was handed a beatup blow dryer that looked 10 years old, and a hairbrush with someone else's hair still in it. Nice. Worst of all - I got home, and my hair was ORANGE. Overall, a pretty bad experience. I won't go back. more

I've heard a few friends complain about the prices at Bangz. The service and the atmosphere is awesome. the trick is to ask for a junior stylist. they are experienced but usually work less hours and charge only about half as a regular stylist. I've been going to the same person for about 2 years and have always gotten great cuts. And you can walk out with a wash,cut,blowout for less than $50. If you go in the morning they have coffee, tee and bagels out for muching while you wait. more
