Aveda Institute= FAIL! 9/11/2010

i went there thinking i was going to save money on a manicure/ pedicure, man was i wrong! at nails of america, an actual business not a school, it was total 40 for a mani/ pedi and its the same price there! This wouldn't have bothered me if they actually did a good job, but it was the worst experience ever. I was literally cringing the whole time. First, there color selection is VERY LOW! I would say only about 20 different color, except they're ugly (like metallic blue or green, not a pretty nail polish that i fell i love with, so if you really want to go here bring your own!!!!) Then she filed my nails like a saw going back and forth instead of one direction, which can seriously damage you nails. When she started painting my nails she didn't even start remotely close to the end of my nail so now half of my nail is painted and half isn't. I think this place can be good if you get the right person, but it's a hit or miss. more

Great Value for Spa Services 6/4/2010

I have visited the Aveda Institute several times to get spa services. I have had massages, facials, and hair cuts. All have been very good. The only draw back is that hair cuts tend to take a long time (1.5 hrs) because the instructor has to keep checking on the stylist. The value, however, can't be beat. I can get my hair cut and styled for around 15 dollars and the spa services are about half of what I would pay anywhere else. If you are patient, you will love the place. If you are not patient, I would say you probably would want to go somewhere else. Pros: Great Products, relaxing atmosphere Cons: Hair cuts take a long time more
