I recently moved into Avalon Riverview from a BLDG owned building. Avalon's management and properties are top notch, and my experience so far has been very satisfactory. I love my new apartment, the location is great - especially for those who work in Midtown, the immediate neighborhood has mostly everything you need, the gym and staff are wonderful, and the price is so much more reasonable than a comparable apartment in Manhattan. The only things that are not wonderful are 1) the air quality in the building and 2) the nearby supermarket, Food Cellar, doesn't have many items that non-gourmet markets carry. I think the ventilation system in the building needs updating, because my hallway smells of cigarette smoke quite often. The smell creeps into our bedroom at times, so we have had to purchase an air purifier. It helps but does not completely solve the problem. The Food Cellar is great for prepared foods and certain specialty items. But much of their selection is limited, and most items are quite expensive. We are going to shop at the nearby Costco. Overall we think this is a nice place to live and would make the same choice again. It is certainly a huge improvement over BLDG!
