Five Plus Stars\r \r This is the second major flooring project that I have engaged Austin Fine Floors. My initial project was over 3,500 square feet and consisted of replacing hardwood floors with upgraded and highly detailed scraped random width hardwoods as well as 64-ounce Karastan carpeting in the bedroom areas and carpet tiles in the exercise room. This project is 1200 square feet of premium slate tile; they suggested special tile sizes and installation pattern that is extraordinary in its ability to complement the random width hardwood flooring.\r \r AFF is the ""go to"" resource for many of Austin's luxury homebuilders; when they are constructing a $1-5 million dollar home ... proper material selection, quality and installation are an absolute necessity. One of those builders directed me to Dale Miller; I shall be ever appreciative.\r \r Dale and his staff have a gift for guiding the client to the proper ""look and feel"" to complement and enhance the home.\r \r Pricing is competitive, but make no mistake ... this is not the design resource for K-Mart shoppers. However, the overall product selection, design and installation expertise makes the value proposition outstanding!\r \r One more thing, they've been around for like twenty years; almost all of their counterparts have declared bankruptcy during one of the Texas or national depressions/recessions.\r \r Dale Miller hung I there ... and was available when one of my friends needed him ... unlike some other friends who got a disconnected phone message. Character matters! Dale, our floors and we have a lifetime relationship ... that is my idea of a positive business relationship.\r \r more

\r Robert C.\r Dallas, TX\r \r 1.0 star rating out of 5.0\r \r \r 9/13/2012\r \r This company was selected because of work that they had previously done on the same property some years prior, and their prices were competitive.\r \r The salesman was actually quite good and we felt that he went the extra mile in the selection process.\r \r We had 2 different surfaces installed and there were problems with both.\r \r The natural stone had surface issues that were discovered prior to finish out.\r They were eventually identified to be a supplier issue, and would require an extra\r refinishing process to repair.\r \r Rather than just fixing the problem, ( a 2 day job ) they spent weeks attempting to\r defer the cost to the manufacturer, without any regard for customer inconvenience.\r \r ( there were countless un-returned phone calls during this time, as we attempted to get the problems resolved) \r \r The wood flooring itself went down just fine, but the associated trim work\r (quarter round and threshold ) was horrendous.\r \r They initially ordered the incorrect threshold and there was a lengthy delay to wait for the correct trim.\r \r The initial quarter round installation was so bad that we were originally going to pull it,\r but we had painters in the house that were able to make most of it it presentable.\r \r When the correct threshold arrived it was eventually installed, but 3 out of 4 pieces\r were laid with gaps.\r \r The threshold then had to be subsequently reordered with another delay.\r \r On the second installation attempt, they were one piece short and broke another during installation we were now facing another reorder and delay to correct the remaining 2 pieces.\r \r The ""new"" pieces somehow miraculously materialized overnight, and a 3rd attempt was scheduled for the following week.\r On the 3rd attempt they apparently brought the original ( incorrect ) threshold and installed it in the 2 remaining areas. ( these last pieces did not match the other 2 thresholds, and one of the incorrect ones is not even installed properly ).\r \r We finally just paid them to go away, as each successive return was an imposition on our time as well.\r \r I had a number of conversations with an owner during the course of this comedy of errors, but his initial apparent concern eventually shifted to getting the rest of his money rather than customer satisfaction. This was not the same owner that I have seen mentioned in previous positive reviews.\r \r Based on our experience we found that this company lacks attention to detail on the part of the installers, and demonstrates a lack of quality control on the part of current mgt. \r \r Our advertised 4 day job wound up taking over 3 months, and was still not satisfactorily completed when we wrote the final check just to get rid of them.\r \r We will just have to hire someone else to correct the remaining errors.\r more

Great Selection and Professional Staff 9/22/2009

I have been waiting to replace my upstairs carpets for quite a while. I spoke to Dale at Austin Fine Floors and he was very helpful. They came out to measure and give an estimate and had a variety of options for me in different price ranges. I found them very easy to work with and trusted the quality of the work they did for me. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a professional job, quality selections and is looking to get it done right the first time. Pros: Wide Variety, Flexible & Knowledgeable Staff more
