Definately A Great Place To Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth 8/27/2011

This is a great place with awesome pastries just like the one in old Detroit and it has great ice cream. Recently very late at night I stopped in and I bought a Danish to take home for breakfast to have with my morning coffee. It was the last one they had and turned out to be very stale when I ate it in the morning. I phoned them around 9AM and the person answering the phone took my name and told me to let the manager know next time I came in so I could get full credit toward my next purchase. They are very honest people running a great old time bakery. I never had a bad experience there before and will return in the future. Very cool, traditional bakery with a very European feel to it. Royal Oak is full of free music because of the great street musicians who perform on the street for donations, so get take out if you are there at night and have something sweet while you listen to the best free music in Metro Detroit! more

Desserts for everyone 9/15/2007

I admit, we might have an addiction to desserts, but we actually bike to Astoria to get dessert at all hours of the night. They are open until 2 a.m. I believe, though we've never gone that late. That is one of their major perks, their opening hours!\r The desserts are excellent, delicious and decently priced. Average is around $3-4. We especially love their Creme Brulee, Coconut Macaroons and the Chocolate Cake. (Actually, I've never tried a dessert there that I didn't like). The Tartufo is VERY rich and thick, so be prepared to save half for the next day. \r Their service is friendly. I just wish they had more indoor seating, as we had to sit outside in the rain once because they only really have 3 tables inside (and a bar...makes no sense).\r It's a great place to ""take away"" from though. Pros: YUMMY desserts Cons: not much seating more
