I have always loved going to Americana - we had been going there for years...until today! We have a special needs child and a new born baby. We ate lunch there and ordered our food. My sister ordered a salad and asked them to add chicken to it. When the food arrived her salad did not have chicken on it. We had to ask several people to send our server over to our table. By the time she came to our table (about 10 min later) we had pretty much finished our lunch. My sister told the server she forgot the chicken and the server rushed off saying she was sorry. About 10 minutes later, we were waiting for our check and the chicken arrived at the table. It was salty and touch tasting. Then we saw they charged us $6.95 for the chicken and couldn't believe it!! I asked the server if she could please take the $6.95 off the bill b/c the chicken had arrived so late we basically didn't want it any more. She said she'd talk to the manager but she doubts he'll take the charge off. \r

The manager came to our table and was incredibly rude - saying we got the chicken and should pay for it. He apologized for the server forgetting to put the order in, but said we got the chicken (20 minutes late and not on the salad) but that we should fork over the money. My husband started to discuss the issue of customer service with him, but this guy couldn't care less about customer service. I want to tell all the future customers of Americana how rude this manager was to us and how incredibly horrible his concern for his customers' experience is. If you are thinking of eating out in Del Mar there are plenty other nice restaurants to go to who probably will value your business more than Americana. \r

Americana's attitude is the customer is wrong - and how dare we ask for a charge to be removed. If you go there you'd better hope they get your order right, because you'll be paying for it either way!!
