I took pictures of the shoddy work that was done. It was THAT awful. It was supposed to just be a little tightening of the bodice and the straps. But one, she did not know how to replace the beading on my daughter's prom dress once she cut the beads off, and two, she took up too much and we had to have fabric removed under the arms to make it wearable. At an additional cost to us. Very expensive and not very professional. When I expressed my displeasure, she offered to continue to work on the beads, but I was afraid to let her touch it again. Never did she offer a refund or an apology. I just wish she would have admitted she could not fix the dress, before she ruined it. more

My daughter and I were not happy with the alterations Christy did on my daughter's wedding dress. I guess our dress was too complicated for her. Christy could not take out the wrinkles at the waist or the pooching zipper. She did a terrible job hemming the dress by leaving it uneven, tulle hanging below the lace applique and holes where the applique had not been sewn on. The bustle was ugly too. I couldn't trust her to do any repairs to the hem after letting us leave the shop with the dress. The wedding was two weeks away, so we took it to Christie's alterations on South Blvd. She saved the dress and fixed everything Alteration's by Christy could not! I can't believe all the glowing reviews on this place. Beware! more

Christy is wonderful! Her professionalism, and expertise are unsurpassed in her field. I have never written a review before, but everyone needs to know how great she is. I have used Christy before as a MOH. This time was for my daughter's wedding dress, my younger daughters MOH dress and my last min. MOB dress. Christy not only accommodated our hectic schedule, but rearranged hers to accommodate us. Christy provided expert advice, cost saving tips, and even gave us advice on what to do in case of emergency. Her prices are very reasonable. Her shop is clean and comfortable. I would recommend her to anyone who needed expert alerations. more

"Stunning" Alteration 8/7/2012

I ordered a knockoff wedding dress online approximately 2 months prior to my wedding. I ordered the dress 2 sizes smaller anticipating I would loss weight before the wedding. When the dress first arrived I could not fit the dress over my hips. A month later the dress went over my hips but was very, very tight! I continued losing weight and contacted Alterations by Christy 2 weeks prior to my wedding. Christy had a lot of work to do on my dress! She let out the side seems, removed fabric flowers from the top, added bustles, removed cups that came with the dress and added larger cups to fit me. Finally, she let out the hem of the under layer and brought up the hem of the lace overlay. I was so nervous my dress would be a disaster but when Christy was done I loved it! My husband told me I was "stunning!" What more could a girl ask for? Thanks Christy! more

I was in a fix, I ordered my dress from one of the big name Bridal shops, I got my dress, and it was way to big, several sizes I believe. I took it to a family member who does all of my alterations. She said that the dress had to be remade, that my best option was to find another dress. I called the bridal shop and they were not any help. I began to panic, and then I heard about ALTERATIONS BY CHRISTY!! and how she specialized in formal wear. I was nervous about my financial situation and had my doubts, but I called anyways and set-up an appointment. I was desperate. I was expecting to find a house at this place of business with someone who just did the work out of their house. Instead I walked up to one of the most "professional, nice loooking shops" you could imagine. After meeting with the staff, I was treated so nice, and immediately felt at home. Bad Customer Service 5/24/2011

I have several wedding events coming up and will NOT return there, but will drive to Charlotte instead. more

Great work at a great price 5/11/2011

I had my mother-of-the-bride dress alterations done here as well as having 13 small buttons sewn down the back, and my husband's pants hemmed for the wedding. I was very, very pleased with the work and the cost. Christy was extremely nice, working with me while waiting for the buttons to be delivered by the manufacturer and her work was excellent. The alterations were done very quickly even during prom and wedding season and once the buttons arrived, she got them sewn on very quickly. Excellent service and I would definitely use her business again. more

Best buisness I have ever done... 4/26/2011

Honestly, there needs to be an option to add more gold stars. Christy certainly earns them!!! I cannot recommend her any higher to any girl/woman who needs to make sure that the job is done right and on time for that special occasion. Christy is sweet, competent, hard working, available, and goes above and beyond what is to be expected of a seamstress/alterations specialist. Truly one of a kind.\r \r I had a nightmare (I was a bridesmaid, and the dress was ordered 7 months in advance.. when it finally arrived on a FRIDAY just 3 days before I had to fly to Puerto Rico and didn't fit... I freaked out!) Christy came to my rescue without even knowing all that. She agreed to meet me within an hour and she promised to get it done on time. I was so relieved that I had found someone I almost didn't care if the job was done well or not. I went to Christy for all my wedding needs. I went to her for mine and my wedding parties dresses to be Altered she was AMAZING!!!!!!! I would not trust anyone with my wedding dress but Christy!!!! Not to mention she is AMAZING when it comes to my daughter's cheer uniforms!!! This is the BEST and ONLY place to go for ALL you Alteration needs!!! I couldn't have asked for better service or work than what I received at Alterations by Christy. I always felt confident that Christy knew what she was doing, and she and Sonia just knew how to make me feel like a beautiful bride. I had a unique bustle idea for my wedding dress, and even though Christy had never done a bustle quite like what I was describing, she knew just how to accomplish it! Very satisfied 8/20/2010

I was in an absolute LAST MINUTE bind for a bridesmaid dress in August 2010. I received my dress on a Friday and had to have it finished being altered by Monday to get in the car and drive out of state to a wedding. The wedding mall referred me to Christy's and I am so glad I found them. They took me in right away and had my dress completely ready with all the needed alterations by the time i needed to leave. Many stores could easily shrug off a bridesmaids dress as not important, but Christys made me feel like My Rush needs were no problem at all.. Very friendly and I will use them again. more

URGENT PROBLEM FIXED!! 8/11/2010

I went to Alteration by Christy because another place had "tried" to alter my dress and totally messed it up! It was URGENT as I had to leave the state the next day for a wedding that I was in. I called and she was able to get me in ASAP to get the dress altered. She did it that day and it was perfect. She did an amazing job! I would highly recommend her! I will be coming here from now on for whatever I need altered. THANK YOU! more

Excellent Work 5/4/2010

My daughter had her wedding gown altered here and I couldn't be happier! Everyone was so helpful and attentive to her needs and made her feel extremely comfortable. She is very shy around new people so this was a plus for me. I am also taking her sister to get her bridesmaid dress altered here. Great Work at an affordable price!
